After a few years in the slammer on a drug bust, Goldie (Max Julien) returns to the streets of Oakland, determined to raise himself up in the world. When his old friend turned prostitute Lulu (Carol Speed) asks him to look out for her, Goldie accepts and enters the life of pimping. Soon he's the most notorious "mack" in town, and he has a pair of crooked cops, a rival pimp, and a vicious crime lord looking to take him down. As he wrestles with the impact of selling his soul, his mother and activist brother look to change Goldie's ways.
