Coraline (2017)

ALL CLASSICAL PORTLAND PRESENTS A SCREENING OF “CORALINE”

Celebrate the spirit of Halloween at this spooky fun event for guests ages 10 and up!

Join radio station All Classical Portland and on-air host Edmund Stone for a screening of CORALINE, the 2009 first feature film from Portland-based animation studio LAIKA. This dark fantasy film was an immediate hit with both children and adults because of its captivating storyline and innovative production aesthetics which combine old-fashioned stop-motion animation techniques with the newfangled wonders of modern 3-D printing. Following a world premiere at the Portland International Film Festival in 2009, the film received critical acclaim, winning Annie Awards for best music, character design and production design, and receiving Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for Best Animated Feature.

In keeping with the Halloween spirit, the event will feature ‘spooky’ prelude music performed on Hollywood Theatre’s pipe organ, the only such instrument in a public theater in the city. Guests are encouraged to dress in costumes and participate in a mini costume parade before the start of the show at 1:45 p.m.

Edmund Stone, host of All Classical Portland’s nationally syndicated program The Score™ (Willamette Week’s Best Local Radio Show of Portland, 2016 & 2017), will offer an introduction, while on-air host Christa Wessel (On Deck with Young Musicians) will moderate a panel discussion following the screening with Edmund Stone and Georgina Hayns, LAIKA's head of puppet fabrication.

All Classical Portland donors are eligible to purchase $6 tickets with a promo code. (Call 503-943-5828 for the code). All proceeds benefit All Classical Portland.
