LEVIATHAN (2012): One of the hallmark films of Harvard’s Sensory Ethnography Lab, LEVIATHAN is a poetic, meditative documentary that explores, largely without language, the brutalities of the commercial fishing industry. In place of information, we get sensory immersion. In place of exposition, Véréna Paravel and Lucien Castaing-Taylor’s film offers direct observation, a pure exercise in cinematic seeing.
