Down By Law

35mm print. A tribute to cinematographer Robby Muller (1940-2018). This screening is free for Hollywood Theatre members.

DOWN BY LAW (1986):
Jim Jarmusch's classic "neo-Beat noir comedy". When two men (Tom Waits and John Lurie) are falsely accused of crimes and thrown in a Louisiana jail, fate brings them a strange, strong-willed Italian tourist (Roberto Benigni), and they decide to break out. Jarmusch's portrait of misfits in the American landscape features excellent performances by the three leads, and crisp black-and-white cinematography by the esteemed Robby Müller.
