Edward II

Series: TGIQ

Thank God It's Queer pays homage to legendary queer filmmaker Derek Jarman and his opus EDWARD II (1991)! Adapted from Christopher Marlowe's Elizabethan-era play, EDWARD II tells the tale of England's scandalous gay king (Steve Waddington), his longtime lover (Andrew Tiernan), and the French queen obsessed with their downfall (Jarman's muse Tilda Swinton). Anachronistically told in Jarman's dreamlike style—and featuring a stunning musical performance by Annie Lennox—EDWARD II is a lush retelling of a sadly still-relevant history and a standout example of New Queer Cinema.
