Fire of Love with Geophysicist Andy Lockhart

Series: The Portland EcoFilm Festival

Portland EcoFilm presents this special screening, featuring a Q&A with geophysicist Andy Lockhart after the movie.

Intrepid scientists and lovers Katia and Maurice Krafft died in a volcanic explosion doing the very thing that brought them together: unraveling the mysteries of volcanoes by capturing the most explosive imagery ever recorded.

"The greatest lava-fueled love story ever told" - Rolling Stone

Special guest, Andy Lockhart, will answer questions and offer his perspective after the film. Andy is a USGS geophysicist, his specialties are volcano crisis response, and instrumenting volcanoes for eruption forecasting. For 36 years he has worked with the Volcano Disaster Assistance Program (VDAP), funded by USAID in developing countries with active volcanoes. Andy has worked on about 50 volcanoes in 12 countries (including the US), mostly in Latin America and around the Pacific Rim. Exposure to so many active volcanoes has taught Andy to be a very cautious man.
