Series: Isn't She Great

Isn't She Great celebrates hilarious women and HAIRSPRAY! Hosted by Elizabeth Teets and Anthony Hudson, this Pride Month edition opens with stand up from Portland’s own Julia Corral.

Written and directed by the High Pope of Trash, John Waters, HAIRSPRAY stars Ricki Lake as Traci Turnblad, a plus size queen who just wants to dance on The Corny Collins Show. But in her quest to reach her dreams, Traci finds herself facing off against racist amusement park owners, the Von Tussles (Debbie Harry and Sonny Bono), and fighting for racial integration with Motormouth Maybelle (Ruth Brown).

Co-starring Jerry Stiller, Mink Stole, and the incomparable Divine in her final performance as Edna Turnblad, HAIRSPRAY was simultaneously a departure for John Waters as his first PG film and a quintessential classic, inspiring a musical that would both revolutionize Broadway and cement Waters' legacy as a legend even beyond cinema.
