Jubilee

Series: Mondo Trasho

The Hollywood Theatre and Mondo Trasho commemorate visionary queer filmmaker Derek Jarman and the 25th anniversary of his death with queer punk rock classic JUBILEE!

When Queen Elizabeth I (Jenny Runacre) summons her court astrologer (Richard O’Brien, THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW) to teleport them to the future, she finds herself in a post-apocalyptic 1970s England ruled by gangs of punks. Among them are Kid (Adam Ant in his first film role), Crabs (Nell Campbell), and their leader Amyl Nitrate (Jordan, model and member of the Bromley Contingent). Featuring the music of Adam and the Ants, Suzi Pinns, and Brian Eno, and featuring cameos from Siouxsie Sioux and Steven Severin, JUBILEE is Jarman’s controversial queer punk masterpiece engaging war, capitalism, incest, art, fashion, anarchy, fascism, and more with mirthful, philosophic glee.
