Mississippi Records presents two nights with Lonnie Holley, one of the world's greatest living musicians. Lonnie's music is unclassifiable - somewhere between soul, jazz, cosmic tones, rock, Gospel, blues and anything else you can imagine. Lonnie never plays the same song twice, always channeling from some deep well of inspiration. He's been called "the cosmic Stevie Wonder" by some and "America's greatest alchemist" by others. Mississippi Records just calls him a genius....
We are proud to present Lonnie accompanied by some of Portland's finest musicians -
On January 19th Lonnie will be backed up in two separate sets by pedal steel guitar wizard Barry Walker followed by Hypnotic Ethiopian Jazz masters The Tezeta Band.
On January 20th Lonnie will be backed in three separate sets by percussionist Papi Fimbres, then Rock n' roll legends Peter Buck and Scott McCaughey and finally by beloved art punkers LOX.
Both nights will have surprise films and more!
This show is part one of the "After The End Of The World Festival", which features Mississippi Records favorite living music acts presented with films and projections on the big screen.
