SIDEWALK STORIES: In this 1989 remake of Charlie Chaplin's THE KID, a homeless artist (Charles Lane) plays surrogate parent to a young girl (Nicole Alysia) after her father is murdered. He takes the child into the slums that he calls home, where they meet a strange assortment of characters while slowly developing an intimate friendship.
