Repressed Cinema: Amateurs and Auteurs

Repressed Cinema presents “Amateurs and Auteurs” . This program showcases one of a kind home shot, amateur films ranging from the early 1940's to the 1980's presented on 16mm film.  Some mimic mainstream movies with a straightforward plot, while others stray far, far away from any semblance of cinematic classification.  Portland curator, archivist and filmmaker Ian Sundahl will be here in person to introduce and screen the films.

Films include: Kodachrome Peeping Tom – amateur shot 1950’s erotica, UFOs, Razorblades, Babes and Puppets – filmed in “dual-vision”, Scarsddale Chase Films – shot in the 1940s in the silent era style, a bizarre not-for-tv-viewing news clip featuring Ron and Nancy Reagan, Oh You Beautiful Doll! – a truly creepy gender bending Adolph Hitler send-up and much more!
