The Public

Join the Multnomah County Library and Hollywood Theatre at a screening of the THE PUBLIC followed by a panel featuring Director of Libraries Vailey Oehlke and special guests.

Writer/director/star Emilio Estevez's THE PUBLIC tells the story of a group experiencing houselessness who take refuge at their local library during an extreme cold front. With local emergency shelters at full capacity, these patrons stage a nonviolent sit-in at the library in order to stay in the building after closing time — leading to tense negotiations with local police and sensational coverage by local media, with the library’s staff caught in the middle. Co-starring Taylor Schilling, Jena Malone, and Jeffrey Wright.

Free pre-sale tickets for this event are sold out but there will be a waitlist for unclaimed tickets at the door starting at 7:20pm. More from the Multnomah County Library here: https://multcolib.org/es/events/public-movie-screening/106120
