VELVET GOLDMINE (35MM) with Todd Haynes

Series: TGIQ

Celebrate the Hollywood Theatre's new monthly series TGIQ (Thank God It's Queer) this Pride season with VELVET GOLDMINE on 35mm, complete with Academy Award-nominated director Todd Haynes in attendance for a special Q&A after the film.

VELVET GOLDMINE summons the spirit of David Bowie in Brian Slade (Jonathan Rhys Myers), a dandy turned international glam rockstar who fakes his death and vanishes into musical myth. A decade later, reporter Arthur (Christian Bale) tries to uncover what became of Slade—leading him to Slade's cosmopolitan ex-wife Mandy (Toni Collette), his lover Curt Wild (Ewan McGregor, playing a cypher for Iggy Pop and Lou Reed), and a tribute to the love affair between British and American rock music.

Part alternate history, part slash fiction, and supported by a killer soundtrack from Thom Yorke, Shudder to Think, T-Rex, Roxy Music, Placebo, and more, Todd Haynes' VELVET GOLDMINE is the CITIZEN KANE of glitter and a touchstone of '90s New Queer Cinema.
