Greased Lightning in 35mm

Series: Portland Black Film Festival

An extremely rare 35mm print of this overlooked 1977 classic, starring Richard Pryor and Pam Grier!

The true story of Wendell Scott, America's first Black NASCAR driver. Richard Pryor stars as Scott, who returns from WWII to find his hometown as racist and poor as when he left it. After an invitation to the local race track, he becomes obsessed with being a race car driver. He puts the pedal to the metal, and fights against the racist system for his piece of the American Dream. Directed by Michael Schultz (KRUSH GROOVE, COOLEY HIGH).
