Sara Goldfarb (Ellen Burstyn) is a lonely widow who has delusions of being a guest on a tv show. Desperately wanting to lose weight, she quickly becomes addicted to diet pills. Her son Harry (Jared Leto) is a junkie who along with his friend Tyrone (Marlon Wayans) has visions of making it big by pulling off a major drug deal. Harry's girlfriend Marion (Jennifer Connelly) could be a fashion designer, but is swept along in Harry's drug-centric world. All four people will have their hopes and dreams ripped away as their addictions take over, and devour their bodies, minds, and souls.
